This is another huge resort and is well worth its position in Frances top five winter destinations. The Grand Rousses ski domain has 220km of runs and plenty of scope for those looking to go off the beaten track. The location of the bars in the resort make it ideal for an English style pub crawl with the last bar being above the main nightclub, so no fears of not making it all the way! You can choose from either centrally located accommodation or from accommodation located on the slopes both of which are standard 2 or 3 stars.

Alpe d’Huez village provides an ideal base to explore the entire Grandes Rousses ski domain, there are 88 lifts linking 220 kilometres of runs with pistes suitable for all standards of skiers and boarders. The lifts which access the main slopes are modern and uncrowded, with a choice of cable car, telecabine and chairlifts transporting skiers and snowboarders to the nursery slopes above 1850m. Beginners will enjoy the selection of wide, gentle pistes served by the Montfrais and Clos Giraud lifts. A series of snow cannons ensures excellent snow conditions on the local nursery slopes for a long season. The Grand Rousses ski area is a paradise for intermediates, with an immense range of skiing throughout. Many varied slopes descend via wide open bowls and forest trails to the villages of Villard Reculas, Auris en Oisans and Oz station. Alpe d’Huez offers some of the most challenging marked runs to be found anywhere in Europe. The Pic Blanc cable car at 3300m provides access to the hardest skiing, including the 16 kilometre Sarenne and the hair-raising Tunnel run. Alpe d’Huez also benefits from some fantastic tree skiing on the descents into both Auris and Oz/ Vaujany.

The size of Alpe d’Huez ensures it has a large variety of après ski venues and two nightclubs open until the early hours. All the bars have a good capacity and are extremely keen to offer our groups great drinks deals. Both the Pacific and O’Sharkeys play host to all live sports and encourage groups by supplying high quantities of toffee vodka for distribution around the bar. The seasonnaires main hang out is the Underground, a perfect venue for live bands which play weekly for your pleasure. Smithys Tavern is the largest of the bars and perfect for theme nights, it tex mex style means tequila is free flowing! If you make it past 2am you have a choice of clubs the more popular Igloo or the more seedy Les Caves, the choice is yours both of which are free entry with a Piste Card.
